Missy Franklin was born on 10th of May in the year 1995 in Pasadena, California, USA, her father Richard Franklin used to be a senior executive in a medical device company. Missy’s mother D.A. (Diane) Franklin used to be a swimmer during her time in Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia, Canada.
At the age of five years old, Missy started her swimming journey at the Colorado Stars swim club and was coached under the guidance of Todd Schmitz. By the time she reached the age of twelve, she already qualified for 2008 U.S Olympic trials.
Education and the Beginning of Sports Career
Missy used to attend Regis Jesuit High School in Aurora, Colorado, which is a private school and among her schoolmates, she was known for her bright personality, humbleness, and faith.
She used to balance her studies and practice. Missy achieved a great forfeit of being a member of U.S. National Team at the mere age of fourteen.
Missy started her amateur career at a very young age, in 2011, at the age of sixteen she already achieved multiple medals at the World Aquatics Championships and made a name for herself.

- 2010-2011: Missy made her debut at the 2010 FINA Short-Course Worlds after she joined the U.S. National Team, where she bagged a silver medal in 200m backstroke and 4×100 m medley against Team Britannica. In the year 2011, She participated at the World Aquatics Championships held in Shanghai, where Missy achieved three gold medals in 200m, 4×200 m freestyle and 4×100 m medley relay, silver medal in 4×100 m freestyle relay.
