Early Life and Childhood    

Grey was essentially raised in the wrestling environment. As a toddler, his father would bring him to practices at Perrysburg High School. While other children played at home, Grey would bring a backpack full of toys to the gym and play on the mats while his father coached the team.

He began competing in the Ohio kids’ state tournament at just five years old. Despite wrestling opponents larger than him, he managed to place himself due to the innate ability of the sport.

Education and the Beginning of Sports Career

Grey Burnett is an outstanding junior wrestler at Perrysburg High School in Ohio and is widely considered one of the top wrestler in the nation. His career has been known by a deep family connection to the sport. He is a junior at Perrysburg High School, where he competes for the Yellow Jackets.

Between 2016 and 2019, he received multiple state, regional, and national titles across Freestyle, Greco-Roman, and Folkstyle. In his first two years at Perrysburg, he received two Ohio Division I State Titles. He entered his junior season with an impressive high school record of 86–5.

Professional Career

Grey Burnett is not yet a professional wrestler; he is an amateur student-athlete who has just made a major commitment to the next stage of his career. Currently a junior at Perrysburg High School in Ohio, he is one of the top-ranked wrestler in the nation for the Class of 2027.

He followed his former high school teammate, Marcus Blaze, by choosing to wrestle under head coach Cael Sanderson. He chose the Nittany Lions over other elite programs, including Ohio State and Nebraska.

He represented Team USA in Under 17 World Championship (Amman, Jordan), receiving a bronze medal in freestyle at 55 kg.

He won the 16U freestyle national title at the Fargo tournament in 2023. He secured his spot on the world team by winning the freestyle title in Las Vegas.

He is a 2 times Ohio Division I State Champion for Perrysburg, continuing the second half of his high school career with record.

Married Life and Family

Scott Burnett, his father and also his head coach at Perrysburg High School. Scott wrestled at the University of Nebraska and the father cum coach relation is a part of Grey’s development.
