Ashton Eaton was born on 21st of January in 1988, in Portland, Oregon, USA, his mother Roslyn Eaton was a single mother and used to work many jobs in order to provide for Ashton while his father Terrance Wilson was absent from his life after his separation with Roslyn when Ashton was still very young.

Ashton is of a mixed heritage, where his mother is Caucasian and his father is an African American. Little Ashton used to live in a rural part of Oregon with his mother. There, he used to climb trees and hike, and his mother encouraged him to play sports. Ashton was great at running, jumping, and climbing ever since he was young and used to take part in many competitions at his school.

Education and the Beginning of Sports Career

Ashton was a very athletic child and had a strong passion for running and sports, after getting admissions at the Mountain View High School situated in Bend, Oregon. There he was an active player of several sports such as football, basketball and track & field, after graduating from high school in the year 2006.

Ashton took admission at the University of Oregon where he majored in Psychology along with being an active participant in the track and field.

After some time, he gained the attention of an ex-Olympian Dan Steele, who suggested that Ashton to practice and train for the decathlon, it is a category in which there are 10 events like sprint, throws, jumps and distance running. Professional Career

2011-2012: After debuting at the world stage, where he played at the IAAF World Championships in Athletics held in Daegu, South Korea. Ashton got his first silver medal there in the decathlon after competing with Leonel Suárez and Trey Hardee.

During the U.S Olympic trials, he gained a gold medal and made a world record in the decathlon category, where he defeated Trey Hardee and Gray Horn. At the 2012 London Olympics, he received a gold medal and defeated Trey Hardee, Leonel Suárez and Hans van Alphen.

2013-2014: During the 2013 IAAF World Indoor Championships held in Istanbul, Turkey. Ashton achieved the gold medal in the Heptathlon upon defeating Oleksiy Kasyanov and Andrei Krauchanka.
