Jim Brown was born on February 17, 1936, in St. Simons Island, Georgia, USA. His father Swinton Brown used to be a professional boxer but he left when Jim was still very young, Jim’s mother used to work as a house servant to support her family and they used to live in Manhasset, Long Island, New York after Jim’s father left them.

His childhood was difficult but Jim displayed courage and passion and became one of the best football players and a great sportsperson.

Education and the Beginning of Sports Career

He took admission in Manhasset High School, where he used to play a lot of sports like football, baseball, basketball, lacrosse, and track and because of his outstanding talent, he was heavily recruited.

He got a scholarship at Syracuse University located in Syracuse, New York, USA. where set records and became a star player in football and Lacrosse which led him to his selection by the NFL scouts in 1957 by the Cleveland Browns and became the first rookie to get NFL MVP title.

Professional Career

1957-1965: He was first selected by Cleveland Browns in the 1957 NFL Draft and he became a running back. He was named NFL MVP three times and got nine Pro Bowl selections; he also became NFL Rushing leader eight times.

He retired at the age of 29 in 1965. Jim was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame and was named NFL 100th Anniversary All-Time Team. Jim remains an influential figure to date.
