Early Life and Childhood

He was born in Bakerfield, raised in Oklahoma and began his wrestling when he was just 4 years old under a local youth wrestling program which was owned by his father and uncle. He started wrestling in Blanchard which is a rural community (south of Oklahoma City).

Education and the Beginning of Sports Career

He attended Tuttle High School where he was a member of the National Honor Society and graduated in 2020. He was named as the Academic All-Big 12 First Team throughout his collegiate career.

Dustin became the 3 times NWCA Scholar All-American and being names as the 2024 Oklahoma State Scholar Athlete of the Year for Wrestling. He earned Undergraduate degree in Agricultural business from the Ferguson College of Agriculture at OSU in the year 2024.

Dustin completed his M.B.A. at the the Watson Graduate School of Management in 2025. He pursued this degree to get prepared for business side of sports management.

Professional Career

He represented the Hawkeye Wrestling Club and Titan Mercury Wrestling Club. He defeated Patrick Brophy by Technical Fall through 14-4 during the Quarterfinal of 2025 Senior World Team Trials Challenge.

He won against Wiktor Hasa from Poland during the 2025 Waclaw Ziolkowski Memorial and hence he obtained rank 3. He also defeated Michael Macchiavello for the 3rd Place Match during 2025 Senior World Team Trials Challenge.

Muhamet Malo Ranking Series 2026 (25 February and 1 March 2026)

Dustin lost against Kamil Kurugliyev from Kazakhstan who was a 2022 under 17 World Champion and he lost by a 6-3 score. Plott was available to get the round in the opening slot and because Kamil did not reach the final match and hence, Plott was placed at rank 10 in the tournament and pulled into repechage.

Zagreb Open Ranking Series 2026 (February 4–8, 2026)

He won a bronze medal during the Zagreb Open Bronze (Feb 2026) by defeating American wrestler Michael through a 6-1 score. He recently competed at Muhamet Malo Selection held in Albania.

He represented the United States at the 2023 Under 23 World Championships. He received Gold Medal during 2022 & 2023 Under 23 Freestyle National Championship. Dustin won Bronze Medal at 2025 Waclaw Ziolkowski Memorial (Poland).

In his career, he became a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Tim Credeur. He received Forrest Griffin Community Award (2020). He was the Interim UFC Lightweight Champion and ISCF Amateur Lightweight Champion.
