Early Life and Childhood    

Abigail Nette grew up in St. Rose, Louisiana where she got inspired by her father’s passion at the age of 6. Abigail spent her initial years of training and competing against boys. As a student in the middle school, she won the Girl’s National Title. Her father famously noted that after years of wrestling boys, competing against girls seemed almost easy to her at the time.

Nette grew up in a household where wrestling was more than just a sport and considered as a family tradition. She was part of a historic moment when Destrehan started three girls on their varsity wrestling roster.

Education and the Beginning of Sports Career

Abby was awarded The Patricia Miranda Medal (2020) which is the highest academic and athletic honor in women’s college wrestling. Abby was consistently named an NWCA Scholar All-American, an award reserved for wrestlers who maintain a high GPA while placing in the national tournament.

She is initially a Pre-Dental Major at Emmanuel University (Georgia). She converted to focus on management at Campbellsville University (Kentucky). Her father took an initiative to let her daughter watch state wrestling meet where she attached emotionally with competition in the combat nature or wresting.

Professional Career

Nette faced her friend Jacarra Winchester for the World Team spot during 2025 Final X. Abigail Nette won the first match of series 6-4 and she is a member of US National Team during 2026 season.

She joined the US Army in 2022 to serve the nation and got her training in Culinary Specialist in MOS 92G. She served in this role while balancing with full time training needs of an Olympic level athlete.

She had access to the world class facilities and coaches at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs. She is among top 3 wrestlers at 59 kg category in the nation.

She has won Gold Medal during 2025 US Open Championships and reserved her Final X spot. She also won Silver Medal during 2025 Pan American Championships. Along with professional career as a player, she earned CISM Military World Championship in Armenia while representing US Army.

Married Life and Family

Abigail is single and during her interviews, she mentioned about her focused process of wrestling. Abby has two brother- Joshua and Mathew. Her father was one of the primary advocates who uplifted girl’s wrestling by LHSAA (Louisiana High School Athletic Association) in 2024.

Her father passed away from Cancer in 2025 at the age of 64. Desiree is her mother who remained as a key part to support Abigail in her career.
