Michael Phelps was born on 30th of June in the year 1985 in Baltimore, Maryland, United States, his father Michael Fred Phelps was athlete in Maryland State Trooper. Michael’s mother Deborah “Debbie” Phelps used to work as principal in a middle school and he had two older sisters.
At the age of nine years old, his parents separated and after that he was solely raised by his mother. When he was nine years old, he got diagnosed with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) and was prescribed to swim as a way to focus.
Initially, Michael started swimming at the age of seven after joining North Baltimore Aquatic Club (NBAC) and was coached by Bob Bowman.
